Baseball Game Preview: Colonial Beach Drifters vs. West Point Pointers

Colonial Beach and West Point are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Drifters will head out on the road to take on the Pointers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Colonial Beach has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Colonial Beach came up short against Middlesex on Tuesday, falling 15-4. The Drifters have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Colonial Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Steffey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The Drifters are 2-1 when Steffey posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

Meanwhile, West Point fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 13-10 to the Vikings. The loss leaves the Pointers still looking for their first win of the season.

West Point's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Colonial Beach, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Colonial Beach couldn't quite finish off West Point in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Drifters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
