Basketball Recap: Erie Red Devils vs. Cherryvale Chargers
Erie's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-40 victory over the Cherryvale Chargers. The team ran away with 38 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Reid Duff was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 13 en route to 17 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Daniels, who posted six points.
Cherryvale's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Fox, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 19 points. Fox's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Carter Rousselle was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.
With the victory, Erie broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9. As for Cherryvale, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Erie has already played their next game (against Bluestem), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cherryvale will challenge Fredonia on Friday. The timing is sure in Fredonia's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Cherryvale has been banged up by 14 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
