Baseball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Newport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 59th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Trimble County Raiders, falling 14-1.

Newport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Kuebel, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 0-34. As for Trimble County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport will take on Calvary Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Trimble County, they will challenge Highlands Latin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Highlanders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
