Volleyball Recap: Scarsdale Raiders vs. Brewster Bears

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Scarsdale can now relate to. They fell just short of the Brewster Bears by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September.

Scarsdale took Brewster into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-19, 22-25, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Scarsdale saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lily Huang had nine digs and 21 assists. Those nine digs set a new season-high mark for Huang. Fuko Shindo was another key player, getting 24 digs, two aces, and a kill.

Even though they lost, Scarsdale was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last nine matches.

Scarsdale's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14-1. As for Brewster, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-4.

Scarsdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brewster, they will take on Ossining at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Ossining will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Brewster surely won't give up without a fight.
