Soccer Game Preview: Brainerd vs. Sweetwater

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Brainerd challenge Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Brainerd's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They came out on top against Tyner Academy by a score of 2-0.

Moises Garcia and Emmanuel Peace scored both of Brainerd's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sweetwater). They put the hurt on Polk County with a sharp 6-2 victory on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Brainerd's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three games. As for Sweetwater, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Brainerd suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Sweetwater when the teams last played back in April of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Brainerd was down 4-0.
