Baseball Recap: Big Valley Christian Comes Up Short

Big Valley Christian lost against Summerville back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Big Valley Christian took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Summerville.

Jackson Howell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Howell is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Alex Avila made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.

Big Valley Christian now has a losing record of 2-3-1. As for Summerville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8-1.

Big Valley Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Linden on the 18th. As for Summerville, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-0 win against Riverbank on the 18th.
