Volleyball Recap: North Newton Spartans vs. Hebron Hawks
North Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Hebron Hawks. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Hawks when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
While North Newton had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 14-25, 25-19, 25-21.
Hebron found their leader in freshman Abby Hansen, who had 25 assists and 15 digs. Those 25 assists set a new season-high mark for Hansen. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayghan Baker, who had 13 digs and two aces.
North Newton's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hebron, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Newton will venture away from home to square off against Faith Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hebron, they will head out to face off against Lake Station Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
