Baseball Recap: Inspiration Academy Gets the Win

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Inspiration Academy and IMG Academy Gray had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Ascenders on Friday. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Ascenders on their field since April 18, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Sawyer Bannon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaya Autman, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Inspiration Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Inspiration Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for IMG Academy Gray, their defeat ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-5.

Coming up, Inspiration Academy will take on IMG Academy Royal at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.3, the Ascenders 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for IMG Academy Gray, they will face off against Varsity Opponent at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
