Softball Recap: Clearwater Valley Has No Trouble Against Lewis County Co-Op [Highland/Nezperce]

Clearwater Valley won the last time they faced Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rams blew past Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] 14-3. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by seven runs or more this season.

Gracie Schuster made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Jesse Rice was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Autum Martinez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Clearwater Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Clearwater Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce], their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clearwater Valley will square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce], they will challenge Potlatch at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Loggers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] surely won't give up without a fight.
