Baseball Recap: Wake Forest Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Wake Forest put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Knightdale Knights a 19-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Hardy looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kellen Rogers and Carlos Diaz did most of the damage at the plate: Rogers went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Diaz scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Diaz has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trevor Friend, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Wake Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Knightdale only posted an OBP of .062.

Wake Forest pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Knightdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wake Forest beat Knightdale by a score of 12-0 later that day.
