Baseball Game Preview: West Prairie Cyclones vs. Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans

The West Prairie Cyclones will take on the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither West Prairie nor Bushnell-Prairie City posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

West Prairie came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Beardstown, falling 11-2.

West Prairie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Whitman, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Bushnell-Prairie City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Astoria/VIT.

West Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-27.

Bushnell-Prairie City's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. West Prairie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bushnell-Prairie City, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will West Prairie keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
