Baseball Recap: Christian Comes Up Short

Christian extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 12-9 in the process. They came up short against the University City Centurions, falling 7-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

As for University City, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 12-8. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 15, 2024 (when they won 7-0).

For University City's part, AJ Curry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Curry has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Antenore, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Kaplan, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

While Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
