Volleyball Recap: Pender Starts Season with Win at Home

Pender took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Jensen Bordeaux had an outrageously good game as she had 38 digs, six kills, and three aces. Those 38 digs gave her a new career-high. Eden Gurganous was another key player, getting 27 digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Pender was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Fairmont had strong showings from Layla Hunt, who had three digs and three aces, and Jerrian Taylor, who had 14 digs and two assists.

Pender wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Wallace-Rose Hill on the 12th. As for Fairmont, they will host Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
