Tri-County recap Oct. 23, 2012
California extended the longest winning streak in Tri-County this week by beating Versailles, 43-0. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Hallsville and Southern Boone played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Hallsville eventually emerging with a 16-14 victory. Levi Howard threw for 104 yards and one touchdown and ran for 69 yards in the win.
Osage's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bo Dean threw for 229 and two touchdowns and Taylor Margetts had 93 yards receiving. On the ground Dean chipped in 303 yards. Dylan Jeffries helped Osage's passing attack out by catching four balls for 68 yards.
Osage's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dean has thrown for 2067 yards and eight touchdowns this season, while Jeffries has 53 catches for 934 yards. Dean also leads the league in rushing with 1221 yards.
The Indians' Jeffries needs only 66 receiving yards against the Tigers to crack 1,000 for the season.
A big matchup in Tri-County this week will be when Osage takes on Versailles. Dan Henderson's team is in fourth place, while Glen Lemmon's team is in seventh place.
The Indians made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,351 from 7,987. The advance stemmed from a 68-41 victory over Warsaw last week.
