Softball Game Preview: Pinconning Spartans vs. Harrison Hornets

The Pinconning Spartans will head out to take on the Harrison Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harrison took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Pinconning, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Pinconning needed a bit of extra time to put away Meridian. They skirted past the Mustangs 4-3.

Layla Foco spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Pinconning's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ella Hunter, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Harrison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Beaverton.

Pinconning's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Harrison, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.

Pinconning came out on top in a nail-biter against Harrison in their previous matchup back in June of 2015, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
