Softball Recap: Wabash Comes Up Short

Wabash and Manchester squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Wabash had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Squires by a score of 6-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Squires this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 back in April.

Kalli Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Lynn was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kaitlynn Honeycutt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wabash has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Manchester, the win got them back to even at 14-14.

Wabash does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Manchester, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-6 victory against Eastern on the 28th.
