Argyle holds on to top spot with five wins heading into Highland Park Tournament in Dallas.

Argyle (Texas) made it through another tournament unscathed, reeling off five wins last week at the Collin County Tournament to remain unbeaten and atop the MaxPreps Top 25 national high school baseball rankings.

The Eagles get a big test this weekend heading to Dallas for the Highland Park Tournament. Argyle meets some of the top 6A programs in the state when it plays Keller, Prosper, Dallas Jesuit, Carroll (Southlake), Coppell and Rockwall during the three-day tournament.

No. 2 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) could be poised to take over the top spot in the rankings should Argyle fall, but the Ascenders have a tough schedule of their own, playing in the Perfect Game Showdown at Hoover. IMG is in the same pool as Coffee (Douglas, Ga.) and Troup County (La Grange) and could face the likes of Bob Jones (Madison, Ala.), Hoover (Ala.) or Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.) in the bracketed portion of the tournament.

Other teams poised to move into the No. 1 spot are Sam Houston (Lake Charles, La.) and Lake Travis (Austin, Texas). Sam Houston has posted seven shutouts in its 10 wins while Lake Travis has the most wins of any team in the nation with 13.

New additions: No. 13 Georgetown (Texas), No. 15 Saint Francis (Mountain View, Calif.), No. 16 La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad, Calif.), No. 23 Huntington Beach (Calif.), No. 24 Barbe (Lake Charles, La.).

High risers: George County (Lucedale, Miss.) from No. 25 to No. 14.

Game of the Week: La Cueva (Albuquerque) def. Cibola, 6-5. After Cibola scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 5-3 lead, the defending Class 6A state champions scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to claim the win in both teams' opener. La Cueva tied the game on a bases loaded hit by a pitch. Ben Schoneman drove in the winning run with a ground ball to left field.

Performance of the Week: Chad Ricker of Argyle. Besides striking out nine in a win over San Angelo, Ricker also drove in two runs against Centennial and had two home runs against Heritage.

Prospect Watch: Jimmy Lewis of Lake Travis. In seven games last week, all wins, Lewis was 12-for-19 (.632 average), with 13 RBI, six doubles, and one home run. He also picked up a pitching win, striking out 11 and allowing only one hit with no earned runs.

Game to Watch: Huntington Beach (Calif.) vs. JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) on Tuesday. Two of the top programs in Orange County tangle in a nonleague matchup. Huntington Beach has lost just one game (to Orange Lutheran) while JSerra Catholic is 4-6 after dropping five games on a Southeast swing through Georgia and Alabama.

Top tournaments: Perfect Game Showdown (Hoover, Ala.). Top teams include No. 2 IMG Academy, No. 7 DeSoto Central, No. 10 Blessed Trinity, and No. 11 Parkview. Highland Park Tournament (Dallas). Teams include No. 1 Argyle, No. 13 Georgetown, and defending Texas 6A state champion Carroll (Southlake).
