Softball Recap: Cypress Ridge Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Memorial, Cypress Ridge was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Cypress Creek Cougars by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Cougars back in March, they had to take a 9-2 defeat.

Ariel Arambula made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Edelin Barrios, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Christiana Palacios was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Cypress Ridge's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cypress Ridge will take on rival Northbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cypress Creek is set to face off against their familiar foe Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
