Softball Recap: Bellefontaine Comes Up Short

Bellefontaine extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 4-19. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Indian Lake Lakers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chieftains of the 7-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Addison Wical was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

As for Indian Lake, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-15. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Indian Lake's side, Bre Wisener made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Wisener was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyler Carruthers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Brylee Buyer also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Looking ahead, Bellefontaine is taking a road trip to square off against Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Indian Lake has already played their next game (against Northridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
