Softball Game Preview: Maricopa Rams vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

For the second straight game, Maricopa will face off against Mountain View. The Rams will be playing at home against the Mountain Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Maricopa has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Maricopa lost 14-7 to Mountain View on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Mountain View's part, Arianna Figueroa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. Figueroa has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Danika Stoddard was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Lynch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in five consecutive matches.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Maricopa, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1.
