Basketball Game Preview: Big Sky Eagles vs. Butte Bulldogs

The Big Sky Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Butte Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Big Sky will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Big Sky is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 67-33 win over Flathead. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Butte's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Flathead. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Braves/Bravettes are ranked 109th).

Big Sky's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.1 points per game. As for Butte, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.

Big Sky beat Butte 56-48 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Big Sky repeat their success, or does Butte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
