Basketball Recap: Fitzgerald Comes Up Short

Fitzgerald lost against Mumford back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Fitzgerald Spartans lost to the Mumford Mustangs on the road by a 56-37 margin. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Mustangs are ranked 140th).

Fitzgerald has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Mumford and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Fitzgerald does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mumford, they will be taking part in a tournament against Renaissance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mumford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Renaissance likes a good challenge.
