Softball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eagle Mustangs. Even if the Patriots couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Bailey Shankland ?26 made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Charlee Valentine ?27 was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Shankland ?26 wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Eagle, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Centennial will head out on the road to take on Moscow at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Eagle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nampa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
