Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Takes a Loss

Santa Fe extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 4-14. They came up short against the Buchholz Bobcats, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Friday.

Santa Fe saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Keel, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Buchholz, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Buchholz's side, they got a great performance from Reed Thomas as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Thomas has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe will head out to take on Palatka at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Buchholz, they will host Lowndes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bobcats 2.5, the Vikings 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
