Soccer Game Preview: Fort Dorchester vs. Porter-Gaud

Fort Dorchester is a perfect 3-0 against Porter-Gaud since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Patriots will look to defend their home pitch against the Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fort Dorchester has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Porter-Gaud will arrive with six straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Fort Dorchester didn't have quite enough to beat Ashley Ridge and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, Fort Dorchester can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Ashley Ridge are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Porter-Gaud kept a clean sheet against Northwood Academy on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Chargers. Porter-Gaud might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by three goals or more this season.

Porter-Gaud's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Fort Dorchester, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Fort Dorchester beat Porter-Gaud 2-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
