Softball Recap: Bellwood-Antis' Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Bellwood-Antis had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-8 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Central Dragons 8-7. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 win the Dragons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Palynn Gregg was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Gregg was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Moore was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amyra Snyder, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Bellwood-Antis hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central struck out seven times.

As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

On Central's side, Aubrey Rhodes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Rhodes has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Norah Bechtel, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bellwood-Antis will square off against rival Richland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Central is set to challenge their familiar foe Forest Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
