Basketball Recap: Murphy Takes a Loss

Murphy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Theodore on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Theodore Bobcats by a score of 53-50. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Theodore found their leader in freshman Parklyn Floyd, who posted 27 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The matchup was Floyd's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Collins, who put up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Murphy dropped their record down to 8-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Theodore, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Murphy will square off against Saraland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Theodore, they will venture away from home to face off against Blount at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
