Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Annaka Edwards and Ella Johnson Lead Kettle Falls to Victory

Kettle Falls won the last time they faced Newport and things went their way on Saturday too. The Kettle Falls Bulldogs took down the Newport Grizzlies 57-43. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Kettle Falls to victory were Ella Johnson and Annaka Edwards. Johnson posted 27 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals, while Edwards went 5 of 9 on her way to 14 points along with eight boards and five assists. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Wyn Edwards, who earned three points along with ten rebounds and five assists.

Kettle Falls has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Newport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Kettle Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-39 defeat against Northwest Christian School on the 4th. As for Newport, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-18 loss against St. George's on the 4th.
