Baseball Recap: Flowers Wins Going Away Against Wise

Flowers came out on top against Wise on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Jaguars blew past the Pumas 18-3. Considering the Jaguars have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ivan Valdez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has become a key player for Flowers: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Valdez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Flowers got a massive performance out of Aaron Moss, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Moss has posted since back in March. Saeed Bilal also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Flowers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Flowers and bumps their season record up to 8-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Wise, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
