Softball Recap: Kylah Wos and Natalie Wischuck Secure Win for Curwensville

Curwensville had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Purchase Line on Monday. The Golden Tide's pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Dragons a 9-0 shutout. With that win, the Golden Tide brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Addison Siple was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Natalie Wischuck and Kylah Wos did most of the damage at the plate: Wischuck went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Wos went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits Wos has posted since back in March. Addison Butler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Curwensville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Curwensville's record now sits at 7-5. As for Purchase Line, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Curwensville will take on Moshannon Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Purchase Line, they will face off against Marion Center at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
