Baseball Recap: Royal Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Royal ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Moorpark Musketeers 8-7. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Musketeers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Dean Barkman got the start for Royal and what a start it was: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts Barkman has posted since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Tillman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Peyton Visage, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Royal's record now sits at 15-2. As for Moorpark, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-5.

Royal will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Musketeers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
