Baseball Game Preview: Hunter Wolverines vs. West Panthers

The Hunter Wolverines will venture away from home to square off against the West Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hunter has three straight victories, West has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Hunter's win against Granger wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines had just enough and edged out the Lancers 11-10.

Brendan Brito made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Brito was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Francom, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Cochran, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, West lost 13-3 to Taylorsville on Friday.

West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Lindsley, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Hunter, their record is now 4-18.

Hunter couldn't quite get it done against West in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
