Football Recap: Buford Starts Season with Win Against Milton

Buford gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They came out on top against the Milton Eagles by a score of 20-13. For the Wolves, this counts as revenge for the 13-10 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

The critical scores for Buford came from Silas Nuckles and Tyriq Green.

Buford didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Milton to a completion percentage of just 44.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Deion Miller and Nuckles, who each logged one passes deflected. Buford wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 68.4%.

Buford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brendon Davis, Joshua Echols, and Nuckles picked up one apiece. Nuckles got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buford will venture away from home to face off against Benedictine at 7:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Milton, they will head out to square off against The First Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
