Smith County had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They secured a 28-23 W over the Watertown Purple Tigers. For the Owls, this counts as revenge for the 57-21 victory the Purple Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2018.

Watertown's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gunnar Tompkins, who picked up 38 receiving yards and two TDs, and Dacio Carter, who rushed for 89 yards.

Coming up, Smith County will face off against Clay County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Watertown, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Gordonsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
