Kennedy is 0-3 against Holy Family since November of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The Commanders will host the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Kennedy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 70-0 victory over Hinkley. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Commanders considering their six-point performance the game before.
Kennedy found their leader in sophomore Matthew Salazar, who rushed for 86 yards and three scores. Marcelis Allen was another key player, throwing for 114 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Kennedy's run defense was locked in: Hinkley could only muster -1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Daniel Bargas Mares for the heroic effort on defense: he. Kennedy didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 15.9.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Kennedy, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Marcelo Nevarez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, while Holy Family put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Littleton. The Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 67-0. That looming 67-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.
Holy Family didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rocco Bertagnolli and Logan Welch. Welch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Holy Family's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.4 points on average over those games. As for Kennedy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Kennedy took a serious blow against Holy Family in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 49-0. Thankfully for the Commanders, Monte Samaras (who threw for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
