Softball Recap: Breathitt County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Breathitt County can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past the Buckhorn Wildcats 12-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bobcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Mahala Bowling was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Pelfrey, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Addie Salyers was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Breathitt County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Breathitt County's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Buckhorn, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Breathitt County will square off against Powell County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Buckhorn, they will take on Morgan County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
