Emery snaps three-game streak of wins at home

Recap: Emery Spartans vs. Juab Wasps

The Emery Spartans pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Juab by a score of 61-58. It was the first time this season that Emery let down their fans at home.

Despite the loss, Emery saw an underclassman step up: Kenadie Maughan dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliya Lester, who scored 16 points.

Even though they lost, Emery were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juab only racked up 18 assists.

It was another big night for Ava Cuff, who scored 30 points for Juab. The matchup was Cuff's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Emmy Lovell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists.

Emery's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4. As for Juab, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Emery will head out on the road to face off against Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Delta is ranked 75th, while Emery is ranked 61st). Juab will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Beaver at 10:00 a.m. on December 15th. Beaver is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
