Basketball Recap: Waite Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Walnut Ridge, Waite was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 35-27 win over the Belmont Bison. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their 14-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Belmont lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mashayla Valentine, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Valentine is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Waite's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Belmont, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Waite will look to defend their home court on January 6, 2025 against Lima Senior at 7:00 p.m. As for Belmont, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 41-6 loss against DePaul Cristo Rey on the 29th.
