Football Recap: Greeley West Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Greeley West extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-5. They were beaten by the Monarch Coyotes 48-8. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

As for Monarch, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.2 points over those games.

Monarch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malakhi Payne led the charge by rushing for 126 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Payne's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 121 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Rizzello, who threw for 115 yards and one touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Coming up, Greeley West will challenge Loveland at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Wolves will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Monarch, they will take on Frederick at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
