Softball Game Preview: Lumen Christi Catholic Titans vs. Northwest Mounties

Lumen Christi Catholic hasn't had much luck against Northwest recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Titans will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Mounties at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lumen Christi Catholic is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Bishop Foley. The Titans blew past the Ventures 9-3 on Friday.

Ollie Powers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lily Ganton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Codi Ruge, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Lumen Christi Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Foley struck out 15 times.

Meanwhile, Northwest took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Hanover-Horton a 1-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Mounties in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won four in a row.
