Basketball Recap: Vernon Piles Up the Points Against Poolville

Vernon waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Poolville Monarchs 67-25. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Monarchs are ranked 1185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vernon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Key'Maria Mcbride, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Mcbride a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadia Gaines, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Vernon has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Poolville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Vernon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-38 loss against Mineral Wells on the 28th. As for Poolville, they will face off against Lipan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
