Softball Recap: St. Paul Takes a Loss

St. Paul fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Paraclete on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spirits by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Swordsmen couldn't push the score so high this time.

Gianelle Napoles spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, St. Paul saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kailee Mejia, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

St. Paul now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Paraclete, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-2-1.

While St. Paul had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
