Softball Recap: Miamisburg Starts Season with Win on the Road

Miamisburg had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Waynesville Spartans. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.

Ryla Zering made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over 5.1 innings pitched. Zering was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Zering wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rhianna Pigman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Mikaela Holp, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Coming up, Miamisburg will head out on the road to challenge Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waynesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beavercreek at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
