Softball Game Preview: Santee Falcons vs. Orthopaedic Vipers

The Santee Falcons and the Orthopaedic Vipers, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Santee is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 39-21 margin over Manual Arts last Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Falcons with their most commanding win of the season.

Rose Reyes was a standout: she went 5-for-6 with one home run, five stolen bases, and five runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Briseida Molina, who got on base in six of her eight plate appearances with six stolen bases, six runs, and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Santee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 31 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Orthopaedic got the win against Torres two weeks ago by a conclusive 16-4. Considering the Vipers have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Santee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.8 runs over those games. As for Orthopaedic, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Santee suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Orthopaedic in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
