Basketball Game Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. Chalmette Owls

The Slidell Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Chalmette Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Slidell has three straight victories, Chalmette has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

If Slidell beats Chalmette with 71 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Slidell beat Salmen on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 71-48. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Chalmette had to suffer through an 84-56 loss at the hands of Fontainebleau. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 89th).

Slidell's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-13. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.2 points. As for Chalmette, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-25.

Everything came up roses for Slidell against Chalmette when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 56-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Slidell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
