Basketball Game Preview: Prosper Eagles vs. Allen Eagles

The Prosper Eagles will challenge the Allen Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Prosper will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating McKinney, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Prosper took down McKinney 55-39 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Lions are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Allen had already won 16 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 17 on Friday. They claimed a resounding 102-60 victory over the Wolves. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Allen's win came from a few key players Prosper will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Antonio Shannon, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Trent Pane, who went 7 for 11 en route to 19 points.

Allen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Allen pushed their record up to 25-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.2 points. As for Prosper, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.

Prosper took a serious blow against Allen in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 75-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Shannon, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
