Recap: Organ Mountain Knights vs. Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars
The Organ Mountain Knights waltzed into their game Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 56-55 victory over Atrisco Heritage Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
YehNhi Wilson was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lenny Washington, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Atrisco Heritage Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Latavious Morris, who scored 19 points along with five assists. The match was Morris' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Kadarius Sims was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Organ Mountain pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Organ Mountain and Los Lunas will face off at 2:15 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Los Lunas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Organ Mountain is ranked fifth). Atrisco Heritage Academy and Mayfield will face off at 10:30 a.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
