Baseball Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Comes Up Short

Capistrano Valley Christian had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-11 to make it four. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Faith Lutheran Crusaders. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly four runs.

Baron Butler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As for Faith Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

On Faith Lutheran's side, Cash Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Martin has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Faith Lutheran let Ace Hansen and Kingston Kela run wild. Hansen went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Kela went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits Hansen has posted since back in March of 2024. Rouselle Shepard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Capistrano Valley Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 9-8 victory against Bishop O'Dowd on the 17th. As for Faith Lutheran, they have also already played their next game, a 4-2 win against Bakersfield Christian on the 17th.
