Preview: Chetopa Hornets vs. Liberty HomeSchool Alliance Arrows
The Chetopa Hornets will square off against the Liberty HomeSchool Alliance Arrows at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chetopa is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
On Tuesday, Chetopa took a serious blow against Tyro Christian, falling 67-30. While losing is never fun, Chetopa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Tyro Christian is ranked 156th).
Meanwhile, Liberty HomeSchool Alliance fought the good fight in their overtime game against Altoona-Midway on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jets by a score of 66-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Chetopa's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.2 points per game. As for Liberty HomeSchool Alliance, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Chetopa was taken down by Liberty HomeSchool Alliance 61-21 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Chetopa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
