Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Emerald Knights vs. Argyle Scots

The Hamilton Emerald Knights will take on the Argyle Scots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hamilton will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

Hamilton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Forestville Central.

Ellie Freeth was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Freeth wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Olsen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. That's the most hits Olsen has posted since back in May of 2024. Another was Katelyn Simpson, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Argyle had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Panthers.

Hamilton's record is now 18-2. As for Argyle, their record now sits at 16-6.
